Think of something personal you wouldn’t like shared.
Why would you want it kept secret, or confidential?
Confidentiality
Done or communicated in confidence
Containing information, the unauthorized sharing of which poses a threat
Confidentiality in our schools includes…
Student performance
Student behavior
Conversations heard amongst staff
Concerns with staff
Incidents with students
Health and medical issues
Parent information
Why is this an issue?
The children, faculty and staff at HF-L have the right to a safe and private environment as they learn and grow.  Information shared outside of the classroom is harmful to the district, staff, children and their families.
Establish a positive and mutually respectful relationship by respecting privacy and unconditional acceptance.
Realize that you experience only a snapshot of the full context of a situation.

Speak to the staff member directly.
