Attendance
Manor encourages regular attendance and rewards both perfect
attendance and excellent attendance (no more than two days absent
for the year).
In the event of an absence we request that a parent:
A. Call the school nurse before 9:30 a.m. at 624-7165.
B. Write a note on the day of the child's return to
school including specific reason for absence and dates of
absence. This note must be signed by parent or guardian. We
take these precautions in light of every parent's worst fear
- child abductions. Please cooperate.
Long absences from school for vacations or other trips must
be acknowledged by the building principal. Please send a letter
to the building principal before such absences. These absences
are considered "illegal" absences by NYS.
School Hours
Arrival: Buses begin to arrive at Manor at 8:35 a.m.
Students report directly to their classrooms. Classes begin
at 8:50 a.m. Walkers should not arrive before 8:25 a.m.
Dismissal: Bus students are dismissed by 3:00 p.m.
After all buses are loaded and departed, a 3rd (last) bell
will ring. At that last bell, walkers, bike riders and car
riders will be dismissed.

Emergency School Closings
Occasionally, in the winter, the weather is severe enough to
force school closings. The Superintendent of Schools makes this
decision as early as possible in the morning and the major radio
and television outlets are notified (WHAM-1180 carries school
closings).
It may become necessary to close school during the day. Parents
are urged to familiarize children and classroom teachers with
alternate plans for supervision if no one is home on these days.
Picking Up Homework
Parents must call the office by 10 AM if they are requesting
homework for a child who is absent. Homework should be picked
up in the office after 3PM unless it is being sent home with
another student. Parents are reminded that Manor has voice mail
(624-7160) between the hours of 4PM and 7:30 AM. |
