Manor PTA Minutes
June 13, 2008, 1:30pm, Room 226

Present:  Dan McCarthy, Michele Shone.

Treasurer’s Report:  We finished the year under budget.  We will start next school year with a balance of about $7,000.

Calendar Dates for 2008-09 School Year (see attached)

Committee Reports:
1. 5th Grade Memory Book:  Memory books will be distributed to the teachers by Friday, June 20th.  All 5th graders will get a memory book.  All 5th-grade teachers will get a free memory book.  One copy each will go to Michelle Kavanaugh, the Board of Education, Jeanine Lupisella, the Manor office, the Manor library, and Dan McCarthy.
2. Good Books Good Times:  Due to a power outage on Tuesday, June 10th, the second GBGT pool party was delayed and rescheduled for Friday, June 13th.  The pizza party was not available due to the power outage.  Regular lunch was served free of charge to all GBGT wiiners.  Books were purchased at the Mendon Library sale (200 books at $.50 each) to supply the 3rd / 4th-grad book cart.
3. School Supply Kits:  A flyer went to teachers on June 16th.  Orders can be placed until the end of June. 

Chairperson Updates:
1. Open Positions for 2008-09 School Year:  Positions will be advertised in Manor Messages and also at the Lima and Middle schools.
2. Summer Meeting Date:  August lunch-in with Mark Tubbs.  The date will be determined later.

District PTA Updates:  ALL officers were approved for next year.

School District:  Bids for the Capital Project were high, so they need to decide what projects to put on hold.  There will be some asbestos abatement work near the boiler room, as well as electrical work in the ceilings.  This is why Summer Rec could not be in the building this summer.  Summer School will be unaffected and will take place from July 14 to August 8 in the second grade wing.

Principal Update:  A tenth section of 5th grade was approved thanks to Superintendent Michelle Kavanaugh; eight 4th grades; eight 3rd grade; and nine 2nd grades (35 sections total).
