PRESS RELEASE

School will resume for HF-L students on Tuesday, September 8, 2009.  Information packets to parents and students will be mailed from each school by Friday, August 21, 2009.  The HF-L School/Community Events Calendar for 2009-10 will be sent home with students on the first day of school.  Additional copies will be available in school offices, local post offices and local public libraries.  An electronic posting of events is also available on the District website at www.hflcsd.org.  See the web calendar for “Our District”.

Due to a June 2009 decision by the New York State Board of Regents to change the schedule of Grades 3-8 State assessments, a number of calendar adjustments to events were necessary, including changes to the scheduling of Superintendent’s Conference Days.  These changes are reflected in the HF-L School/Community Events Calendar for 2009-10 and the District website calendar.  The revised school year calendar reflecting changes in Superintendent’s Conference Days can also be found at www.hflcsd.org/news/School%20Calendar%2009-10.pdf

Final construction work as part of the 2007 EXCEL funded project is near completion.  Extensive rehabilitation has occurred in each of our buildings in order to improve health, safety and program for students.  Students may notice the following changes among the last phases of improvements:  technology upgrades due to new wiring, new flooring, additional security enhancements, new and rehabilitated lockers and a new telephone system.  Extensive upgrades also occurred for electrical, plumbing, air handling and masonry needs.

We look forward to the return of our students for the 2009-10 school year.
