Public Announcement Regarding Capital Project Building Aid - December 6, 2009

As a result of recent budget discussions in Albany, some residents are questioning whether state building aid will be available to us for the capital project to be voted on Tuesday, December 8.  Building aid is paid according to formulas and schedules prescribed in State law.  No changes occurred to these laws as a result of the budget agreement reached by the Governor and legislature this past week.  Therefore, we continue to be entitled by law to the building aid included in the capital project proposition to be voted on Tuesday, December 8 - as long as it is approved by voters on this date.  Voter approval now will give us the authority to access the aid to which we are entitled through the State Education department and will set us on course to pursue bonds and construction bids in the current market.
