HF-L Kicks Off Wellness Week Celebration with Family Fun
Night
The Honeoye Falls-Lima School District invites its students,
parents, staff members and members of the community to join us in
celebrating Wellness Week from February 8-12 and “Live Well in
HF-L.” The District and school buildings are hosting a week long
celebration filled with events and multiple opportunities designed
to promote healthy lifestyles and provide education on health and
wellness issues facing our children and families today. Each
building will host various activities for staff and students to
promote wellness and healthy living.
The fourth annual Family Fun Night will kick off Wellness Week on
Monday, February 8th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the High School.
This event is free and open to the public. Previous years have been
extremely successful, creating a healthy experience for families to
enjoy together. Last year hundreds of students, parents, staff
members and members of the community joined together for an evening
of wellness activities and learning opportunities, as well as
healthy snacks and valuable information from various local vendors.
This year’s Family Fun Night promises to be every bit as exciting!
Multiple local vendors and information booths will be located in
both the lobby and cafeteria. These vendors will be promoting
different products and services consistent with the evening’s
wellness theme. Healthy snacks, as well as chiropractor and massage
services will also be available in the cafeteria. Inflatables will
be set up in the A-Gym for all ages to enjoy, even High School
students! The B-Gym will host the District’s “Jump Rope for Heart”
fundraiser for the American Heart Association, while Euchre Games
and tournament will take place in the Board of Education (BOE) Room.
The pool and Wellness Center will be open for use, free of charge
(on-site registration required). Outdoor activities, including
Moonlight Skiing and Snowshoeing, will take place under the lights
of the High School Grounds weather permitting. Additionally, a
raffle for prizes donated by vendors will be held in the H.S. Lobby.
Due to the large number of participants at last year’s event, the
District will offer a free shuttle service between the Manor School
and High School during Family Fun Night to improve upon the crowded
parking conditions that occurred last year. Guests may park at the
High School or park at the Manor School and take the shuttle. This
event is free and open to the public.
Additional activities will take place throughout the week in each
of our buildings. In addition to Family Fun Night and our ”Jump Rope
for Heart” fundraiser, the District will sponsor several Community
Reads Initiatives, YogaKids, Martial Arts Rising Sun Academy and
several other wellness related programs. The District will also
encourage students to take a break and be active through No Homework
Night. For a complete list of activities taking place during
Wellness Week, please visit the District webpage at www.hflcsd.org. |
