A Canned Food Drive was proposed to help local food pantries within our community and the larger community of Monroe County.  Ellen will check with Honeoye Falls pantry and Bruce will check with Lima pantry to see if they have a need for canned food items.  This opportunity is available for each building.  There will be follow up at next.

Requests for monetary support from the asset group has become an issue, as various groups would like donations, but the asset group doesn’t have a formalized process for reviewing each request.  Ellen Hallahan will organize a small group for the purpose of reviewing these requests.

The Healthy Community Healthy Youth Conference was held in November and Christine, Jerry, Ellen and Matt shared their thoughts and ideas related to the conference.  Christine will convene a group of people that attended the conference so that we can all share the ideas that we got from attending the various workshops.  Cougar Brother/Sister Program was featured at a workshop at the conference and Matt and Kate were the co- presenters with Christine.  He shared his thoughts on that experience.  The group discussed ways to get all this wonderful asset building information to the media, Bobbi will contact the Sentinel to see if we can do a regular article.

Community Youth Leaders.  Dr. Kavanaugh provided information to the group about the recent meeting that pulled together youth leaders to talk about ways to promote positive youth development.  The group looked at such things as conflicts that young people face related to school and community activities, i.e.: sports practices competing with religious activities.  They will be looking at establishing a community calendar that will capture all types of activities.

Enrichment updates were provided by Brad Templeton.  Brad is looking at coordinating an event to further discuss the Model UN Conference.  Brad is looking into equity in sports and academics activities.  Community Youth Court has successfully heard 3 cases and it has been positive.  Updates also given on Mock Trial and Socrates Café.  Brad is looking for members of the Community Watch group to present to Youth Court; Bobbi has agreed to attend a meeting.

Bobbi discussed an issue at the Totiakton Housing Facility with stray cats and the residents spending their own money to help these cats.  She was hoping students could help with this problem.  The group feels that this shouls be addressed with the management of this facility and Bobbi will follow up.

We don’t have a date set for the electronics recycling fundraiser.  Christine will follow up with the company to look at dates for the Spring.

Next meeting will be Thursday, December 13th 8:00-9:30 in Room 116
