District PTA Meeting  Minutes
April 3, 2008
 
In attendance:
 
Dan McCarthy, Dick Gatto, Connie Pease, Colleen Boice, Lauri Hofmann, Michele Shone
 
Treasurers report:  See attached  The need for a fundraiser was discussed.  Lauri will look into the idea of doing an "alumni sporting event". 
 
HFL Cares:  New Roster has been sent out.
 
Nominating Committee:  A committee must be put in place for the May meeting,  elections will be in June.  Open positions include:  President, VP, Recording Secretary, VP of Presentations, Treasurer. Dan has a copy of the National PTA Guidelines.  We also identify the building chairs at this meeting, but they are appointed positions, not voted on as the five positions above.
 
Discussion about the need for a District PTA was brought up.  If there were no District PTA then each building would need to carry insurance and pay the premiums.  With the district in place we only pay once instead of 4 times. 
 
The school board is asking the District PTA to support the Budget this year.  Budget must first be presented which will occur at "Meet the Candidate Night" , May 5
