F.A.Q.

Here you can find the answers to questions asked of the Department.  If you have any questions you would like to see here, please ask.

Do you need to know if my child is not riding the bus?  Please.  It is very helpful to the drivers if they know that your child is going to be off the bus.  You can call the Transportation Department at any time, day or night to let us know.  That number is 624 - 7045.  If no one is here to take your call, simply leave a message on the voice mail.

Why is my child's bus late?  There could be a number of reasons for the tardiness of a bus.  Weather and traffic conditions play a big part of efficient transportation.  There could also be a substitute driver on the bus, as well as mechanical problems that needed to be corrected.  If your bus is more than 10 minutes late, check the website and it will be listed in the BUS ALERT section on the main Transportation page.

Can my child switch buses for a playdate?  Unfortunatly no.  In order to maintain efficient bus transportation, it is necessary to keep route changes to a minimum.  Parents of K-5 grade students may request a special pick-up or drop-off stop for occasional child care purposes.  These changes must be done on a 3 part form.  These can be  obtained from any bus driver, the transportation office, or the school.  Please include the name of your child's teacher on the form.  Special requests for birthday parties, scouts, any lessons, playing with a friend, etc. will be honored only if the students remain on their  regularly scheduled bus route.

Who decides to close school, and how do I find out if it is closed?  Please look at this      related link  for the answer to this question.

When is the Transportation Department open?  The Transportation Department is open from 6:00 AM until 4:30 PM.  You can visit us anytime during those hours at 667 Quaker Meeting House Rd.  You can also call us anytime at 624 - 7045.  If nobody is able to answer your call, just leave a message on the voice mail.

Is there a lost and found?  Yes there is a lost and found at the Transportation Department.  You are more than welcome to visit us to look through this whenever the department is open.  Many times, the driver of the bus will keep items found on board the bus for several days in an attempt to locate the owner.

How does the Activity Bus work?  This service is available Tuesday through Thursday night at 4:00 PM.  Please keep in mind that if your child rides home on the activity bus, there are only three buses that cover the entire 75 square mile district.  One bus goes to Manor, one to Middle, and one to the High School.  Then all buses meet at the Middle School, the students then transfer to the appropriate bus that would cover their area.  It is very possible that the ride home may take a while.  The drivers make up a route each night based on who is on the bus.  Also, please keep in mind, that there are students on the bus from 2nd grade through 12th grade.  As always, the safety of the students we transport is the most important function of our department.  If you have questions, please feel free to contact us at Transportation.
