Board Vice President Christopher Neff and Board President Caralyn Ross were part of the Manor Open House event on Tuesday, September 19, 2023.

The HF-L school board consists of nine community residents who are elected for three year terms. School Board members in HF-L are all volunteers who give hours of their time each month helping to oversee the programs, policies, budget, and school superintendent. While individual school board members have no inherent powers, acting as a corporate body, their resolutions are duly adopted or passed by a majority of the whole board.

School board members, like those attending open houses, engage key stakeholders in conversation and can appoint other community members to participate in standing committees, like the program budget advisory council or the PBAC.

The NY state constitution and laws and regulations of the NYS Education Department clarify the rules and responsibilities of school boards in New York State. https://www.hflcsd.org/page/bo...
