What is Elementary School Counseling

Elementary School Counselors provide preventive and intervention services, which are integrated into all aspects of children’s lives. Counselors provide appropriate tools for communicating, making decisions, and developing friendships and coping skills. Counselors provide services by developing and delivering classroom presentations that teach skills for achieving success, facilitating small group counseling, providing immediate short-term counseling when needed, and providing support during personal crisis. In addition, counselors work collaboratively with parents to connect them to community resources if needed and to help their student succeed in their academic, career, personal and social development.

  • At school, we:

    • Work in collaboration with the entire school community

    • Are committed to the education and the whole development of all students

    • Work closely with teachers to support academic achievement

    • Support school-wide programs, such as PBIS,  “TRACKS” and “Habits of Mind”

    • Communicate with parents to update on student achievement and attendance

    • Conduct individual and group counseling, as well as crisis intervention, when needed

    • Facilitate school-wide activities and lessons related to college and career readiness

    • Push into classrooms to teach skills to promote success

  • The Make a Difference Committee is comprised of fifth grade volunteers focused on providing service learning projects for our local community as well as our global community. Activities this past year included:

    • Can-gineering Event for local food cupboard

    • Holiday Greeting cards for seniors in the community

    • 5th grade fun night to support the Honeoye Falls and Lima food pantries.

    • Student - Faculty basketball game to benefit St. Baldrick's Foundation
