Data Privacy & Security
The Honeoye Falls-Lima Central School District (HFLCSD) is committed to protecting student data in accordance with state and federal regulations. The federal Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and the New York State Education Law 2-D provide important protections for student data.
In accordance with NY State Education Law 2-D, Part 121 Regulations and FERPA, the HFLCSD has the following in place:
- Privacy and Security for Data Policy #5676
- Appointing a Data Protection Officer
- Parents’ Bill of Rights for Data Privacy and Security #5676BOR
- A published list of digital instructional resources containing Personal Identifiable Information (PII) that have been vetted by the HFLCSD. The vetting process includes:
- Reviewing resource for appropriateness to curriculum and academic appropriateness
- Obtaining a signed Data Privacy Agreement from the Vendor that adheres to NYS Education Law 2-D, Part 121 Regulations*Many titles/applications are purchased through BOCES which vets the software on behalf of its component districts.
- A form for reporting a possible breach or improper disclosure of data
- FERPA Annual Notification and Directory Information Policy
