Cougar Closet will provide an organized and appealing location where students can access free supplies: personal, clothing, school. Members will learn supply and demand, compassion for others, and how to solicit donations from the community.

The Entrepreneur's Club is dedicated to inspiring and developing the next generation of business leaders, innovators, and community-minded citizens. Our goal is to foster both an entrepreneurial and philanthropic spirit by providing students with opportunities to explore business concepts and develop leadership skills. Through hands-on projects, guest speakers, fundraising initiatives, and community service activities, members gain valuable real-world experience in entrepreneurship, teamwork, financial decision-making, and problem-solving. The club encourages students to think creatively, take initiative, and make a positive impact on their communities while preparing for future success in business and beyond.

Link Leaders receive training to welcome the freshman class on the first day of school. They will communicate to the freshman the culture of the building and expectations. They will also participate in activities to make the freshman feel more welcome and a vital part of the school.?

The National Honor Society is an organization of students who meet the highest standards of Scholarship, Leadership, Character, and Service.? Membership requires junior or senior status; there is an application and selection process to join this group.
Character:?Members consistently act as a positive role model for others, demonstrate an optimistic, can-do attitude, are polite and well mannered. Members show high ethical and moral behaviors in academic and community pursuits.? Attendance at all obligations and clean speech is expected.
Scholarship:?The student must consistently maintain a GPA of 3.70
Leadership:?Members show leadership both in and out of the classroom, engage in positions of leadership in other school/community organizations, act as a guiding force in a meaningful activity or project, or otherwise serve as a role model to others.? Leadership is consistently demonstrating initiative and?taking responsibility for one's own or a group's actions.
Service:?Members participate in activities that assist and benefit others without pay.??
These four qualities are monitored regularly by the advisors and officers of the organization.? Students who do not consistently meet these standards will be addressed individually.? Disciplinary options may include mentoring, probationary period, or dismissal.

Officers organize and execute class/schoolwide events as well as fundraisers. Officers are elected to office at the end of the school year.

A club that promotes and supports the Unified Basketball teams. Helps to create activities, events, and organizes fundraising to encourage team building and overall success throughout the season.

The FIRST Robotics Competition team represents HFL and Rush-Henrietta High Schools.? Coached by faculty and community volunteers, Cougar Tech offers students fun, fast-paced competition and skill building in engineering, business, and art/graphic design.?? We design and build competition robots, run the team as a business, and support our local communities.? Join the fun!

Immerse yourself in a fantasy world of exploration, adventure and story-telling while you role play and breathe life into characters and stories. We meet every two weeks and are always running games you can join or watch!

The HF-L Math club provides a venue for students to participate in monthly challenging math competitions after school from October through February against various schools in Monroe County. The season culminates in a county-wide all day competition in March, usually hosted at an area college. The top students from the county then attend the state competition in April.?
Each month, our club will meet to practice and then participate in a meet at a participating high school.??During the competition, students will choose to compete in three out of six various math categories. In each category, students have 10 minutes to independently solve three challenging math problems related to the given topic. Points are awarded only for correct final answers.??Students are assigned to teams of ten and the individual student scores are added together to create a team score. Scoring takes place live (through Google sheets) from all five host sites and the winning A team from each division is recognized at the conclusion of the meet.

An exciting and fast paced simulation which allows students to roleplay various United Nation Committees. Students represent various countries around the world and will debate, learn about international relations and diplomacy. Students will also have the opportunity to participate in various conferences throughout the year to compete with different schools.

The clown club’s goal is to educate others on the art of clowning. We will learn: juggling, balloon animals and the art of comedy.

Various activities throughout the year including workshops, movie nights, theatre games. Fall Play?Auditions are held in September for a Drama/Comedy to be presented in November for two performances.

Jazz Ensemble is a year-long group which meets Tuesday and Thursday after school. We play written music and learn to improvise. We perform two school concerts and at the Rochester Jazz Festival. Instruments in the group include saxophones, trumpets, trombones, drum set, piano, guitar and bass guitar. Admittance to the jazz ensemble is by audition.

Marching band is comprised of wind ensemble members.? We march in the Fall Weekend, Mendon Carnival and Memorial Day Parades.

Auditions in December with rehearsals 4 times a week in January and February with 4 performances plus a senior matinee in March.

An audition-based chorus that meets 2-3 days a week from 2-3 to learn challenging pop, theater, a cappella and concert music to perform at Fall Weekend, evening concerts, district assemblies, VB or DL competition, HF Christmas Parade, and Graduation. The group also participates in special events which have, in recent years, included Benefit Concerts, Private Christmas Parties, Exchange Concerts with other schools, Movie Nights, and Trips. ?Auditions will be held in September.

Art Club is an opportunity for all students to create fun projects that fall outside the regular art curriculum. Everyone is welcome to participate!

The Newspaper will give a platform for students to write about what’s important to the HF-L student body. They may but aren’t limited to write opinion pieces, factual pieces about events and activities or informative information for the student body to know.?

Yearbook club works to take photos throughout the year to design the school yearbook. Students are responsible for taking photos, collecting pictures, designing pages, and yearbook spread designs.

A book club that focuses on open discussion and book-related activities. Books are chosen by the group and members can express their insights and opinions about selected titles. Discussion can take on many formats and is student led. Activities can include: games, author visits, participation in library collection and more. ?

Is HF-L's student-driven environmental club.? Members are involved in learning and teaching others about current environmental issues as well as making our district more sustainable in many ways.? There are many opportunities for community service and outdoor activities beyond the school week.? All are welcome!

Provides a safe welcoming, non-judgmental community where you can be free to be your authentic self. We hang out, discuss, play games, support Pride events, and have fun!

Is open to all students Grades 9-12.? The Club meets monthly to investigate topics related to Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math relevant to student interests.? Guest speakers often are invited to present on new and exciting STEM topics.? The Club also performs an annual community service by coordinating the Toys-For-Tots toy collection drive during the holiday season.???

The World Languages and Culture Club celebrates languages and culture around the world. Our focus is on exploring a different language at each meeting while having fun and doing activities that help to understand the culture where it is spoken. We invite students with international travel experience to come and share with our members. All students are welcome to attend.
