College Testing

About College Testing

Two yellow pencils are crossed, one labeled 'ACT' and the other 'or SAT'.

Colleges and Universities often require applicants to take college entrance examinations. The SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test) and the ACT (American College Test) are the two most often requested by institutions.  HF-L is a testing site for both examinations. Use the links below to learn more about each program and to register for the exam.

Typically students will test in the spring of Junior year and again in the fall of Senior year. Schedule an appointment to meet with your school counselor to discuss which test schedule is right for you.

When registering for exams, please be sure to note HF-L's High School Code: 332435 This will guarantee that HF-L receives the student's test scores to include with any records that are requested by and supplied to scholarships and special programs.

Note: Colleges require official scores be sent directly from College Board; please check the college admissions website to ensure that all requests are submitted in a timely manner.

Important information:

  • Students who receive testing modifications through the Committee on Special Education or a 504 Plan must file additional paperwork to obtain these modifications on all standardized college admissions tests.  These students and families should contact their school counselor at the end of 10th grade to file the additional paperwork necessary to ensure proper and timely testing opportunities.
  • Fee waivers are also available for students who meet income guidelines.  See your school counselor to obtain the required paperwork.
  • To prepare for college admissions examinations, students and families have found the following resources helpful:

    • Tutor Pace Practice SAT & ACT exam tool
  • HFL remains a test center site for SAT and ACT. Students should arrive at the posted entrance no later than 7:45 AM for check-in. They will need photo ID and admission ticket, in addition to a their school laptop.
